Compression Check: Testing and Inspection

Compression Pressure, Checking

^ engine oil temperature min 30°C

- remove electrical wire from stop soleniod on injection pump and insulate end of wire
- remove injector fuel lines with wrench 3035
- remove all injectors and heat shields
- mount adaptor VW 1323/2 A in place of injectors
- insert old heat shield between adaptor and cylinder head
- screw compression tester VW 1381 by hand into adaptor

NOTE: See operating instructions for tester.

- operate starter until compression tester indicates no further rise in pressure

Desired Value 34.0 bar
Wear limit 28.0 bar
Max. permissible pressure difference 5.0 bar

NOTE: Always replace heat shields between cylinder head and injectors.

Tightening torque
Injection lines 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
Injectors 70 Nm (51 ft lb)
