Manual Steering
1. Raise and support front vehicle. Remove front wheels.
2. Remove universal joint to steering gear pinch bolt, then disconnect shaft from steering gear.
3. Position rubber boots over tie rods, then disconnect inner tie rods from steering gear.
4. Remove steering gear assembly retaining bolts and the steering gear from vehicle.
5. Reverse procedure to install and note the following:

a. When installing the gear, position the rack so that dimension ``a'' is equal on both sides, Fig. 5.

b. After the tie rods are connected, an adjustment is required. On automatic transaxle equipped vehicles, set dimension ``a'', Fig. 6 to 2.638 inches and dimension ``b'', Fig. 6, to 2.716 inches. On manual transaxle equipped vehicles, set dimensions ``a'' and ``b'' to 2.716 inches, Fig. 6.
c. Adjust toe setting as required.
