093 Transmission Code

1. Disconnect the battery ground strap.
2. Remove upper engine/transmission bolts.

Engine Support Tool:




3. Attach engine support 10-222A and tension (if applicable).
4. Disconnect speedometer cable.

Disconnecting Clutch Cable:




5. On cars with mechanical clutch controls, disconnect clutch cable from clutch pedal (arrow).

Exhaust Pipe:




6. Remove front exhaust pipe with bracket.
7. Remove cover plate for exhaust pipe.
8. Disconnect driveshafts at transmission.
9. Disconnect wiring at the transmission.

Steering Rack Bracket Bolts:




10. Remove bracket from steering rack by removing bolts (arrows).

Slave Cylinder:




11. On vehicles with hydraulic clutch controls, take clip off clutch slave cylinder (arrow), drive spring pin out and remove clutch slave cylinder.

NOTE: The hydraulic line remains connected to the slave cylinder.

12. Remove cover plate and lower engine/transmission bolts.
13. Remove starter.

Removing Transmission:




14. Position transmission lift under transmission and lift slightly.

Shift Rod Coupling Bolt:




15. Remove shift rod coupling bolt (arrow).
16. Pry off shift rod coupling ball.
17. Pull shift rod coupling off inner shift lever of transmission.

Transmission Bracket Bolts:




18. Remove bolt "1", and swing transmission support on body to rear.
19. Remove transmission bracket bolts "2" with rubber mount.
20. Pry transmission away from engine.
21. Lower transmission carefully.
