A new door glass guide (felt pad) is being installed in production as of January 16, 1984. If the door glass binds or runs out of the front track on earlier vehicles, install the new felt pad.
Part No. of the new felt pad is: 173 837 849
Installation procedure
- remove window channel seal at rear of window
- remove lower glass seals (inner and outer)
- pull original felt pad off mounting bracket with needle nose pliers
- clean surface of bracket
Note Cut felt pad in half (two 20 x 25 mm pieces) for installation on four door vehicles.
- remove backing from new felt pad to expose adhesive surface
- insert a pointed tool into side of new felt pad and lower into position on mounting bracket
- press pad firmly to secure
- reinstall window seals and channel
- check function of window
