Production refinements in the installation of the convertible top lock have improved sealing and eliminated wind noise. Changes as of March 1984 include shorter guide pins.

The procedure for checking and adjusting the convertible top on all Rabbit Convertibles built prior to March 1984 is revised as follows:

Convertible top, checking/adjusting

Work sequence

Checking

- place strip of paper (dollar bill) between top header and windshield frame seal and close top
^ paper should remain sealed tightly when pulled

- repeat check with paper strip at various points across windshield frame seal

Adjusting

- check and adjust locking hooks (approx. 3 threads of locking hook must be visible)
- recheck top header seal with paper strip

- if seal cannot be corrected by adjusting locking hooks, shorten guide pins by filing approx.. 2 mm off ends
- use touch up paint on reworked pin surfaces

- recheck adjustment
