Removal and Installation




Drive Belt, Removing/Installing




- remove upper drive belt cover and cylinder head cover
- turn cranksahft so that no. 1 is at TDC
- lock camshaft using setting bar
- align setting bar as follows:
Turn camshaft until one end of setting bar touches cylinder head. Measure gap at other end of setting bar with feeler guage. Take half of measurement and insert feeler of this thickness between seeting bar and cylinder head. Turn camshaft so that setting bar rests on feeler. Insert second feeler of same thickness between other end of setting bar and cylinder head.




- lock injection pump gear in position with pin
- loosen tensioner
- remove v-belt and lower drive belt cover
- remove drive belt


Installing

- check that TDC mark on flywheel is aligned with reference mark
- loosen camshaft sprocket bolt 1/2 turn and loosen gear from camshaft end by tapping with a rubber mallet




- mount drive belt and remove pin from injection pump gear
- tension drive belt using spanner wrench (arrow)
^ tension scale value 12 to 13
measured between camshaft gear and injection pump gear
- tighten mounting bolt for camshaft gear to 45 Nm (33 ft lb)
- remove setting bar
- turn crankshaft two turns in direction of engine rotation (clockwise). Strike belt once with rubbet hammer between camshaft gear and injection pump gear. Check belt tension again.
- recheck injection pump timing
