Accelerator Linkage

Accelerator linkage/cable, adjusting

Note
Accelerator linkage must be adjusted so that the operating lever on transmission is against stop (no throttle position) when throttle valve is closed (idle position).

Work sequence

- engine warm

- gear selector in P position




- loosen adjusting nuts and remove accelerator cable (arrows)




- remove nuts 1 and 2 on support bracket. Push throttle cable sleeve in direction of arrow until there is no play. Throttle valve must remain closed and accelerator/transmission linkage in closed position

- turn nut 1 against support bracket and tighten nut 2 to 10 Nm (89 in lb)

- install accelerator cable

Note
The assistance of a second mechanic is required to perform remaining operations

- depress accelerator pedal completely to stop (kick-down)




- push transmission operating lever against kickdown stop (arrow) and turn adjusting nut A until slack is out of cable

- release accelerator pedal and then depress completely to stop (kick-down) again

- check that transmission operating lever rests against kick-down stop (arrow) and tighten locknut
