Accelerator Linkage
Accelerator linkage/cable, adjustingNote
Accelerator linkage must be adjusted so that the operating lever on transmission is against stop (no throttle position) when throttle valve is closed (idle position).
Work sequence
- engine warm
- gear selector in P position
- loosen adjusting nuts and remove accelerator cable (arrows)
- remove nuts 1 and 2 on support bracket. Push throttle cable sleeve in direction of arrow until there is no play. Throttle valve must remain closed and accelerator/transmission linkage in closed position
- turn nut 1 against support bracket and tighten nut 2 to 10 Nm (89 in lb)
- install accelerator cable
Note
The assistance of a second mechanic is required to perform remaining operations
- depress accelerator pedal completely to stop (kick-down)
- push transmission operating lever against kickdown stop (arrow) and turn adjusting nut A until slack is out of cable
- release accelerator pedal and then depress completely to stop (kick-down) again
- check that transmission operating lever rests against kick-down stop (arrow) and tighten locknut
