Hot start difficulties
(Radiator cooling fan after-run installation kit)

On vehicles experiencing hot starting difficulties, install radiator cooling fan after-run kit Part No. 191 998 215
- remove battery cover and battery ground strap
- remove rubber plug from upper rear engine panel near brake booster area
- enlarge hole to 20 mm (.78 in.) diameter to accept wiring harness grommet
- remove relay panel from bracket
- install relay adapter on top of relay panel
- remove back from relay panel and disconnect Y/BR wire from cavity 7
- cut terminal off of Y/BR wire
- cut terminal off of 20 gauge BK wire or after-run wiring harness
- crimp both Y/BR wire and BK wire to new terminal and insert in cavity 7
- install back cover on relay panel
- remove Red 12 gauge wire from cavity 9 of connector T10 (Blue) behind relay panel and cut off terminal end
- crimp round female terminal Part No. N17 599.4 to wire and insert into single plastic housing of after-run wiring harness
- cut connector from other Red wire of after-run harness
- crimp on round terminal Part No. 175 972 658B and insert into cavity 9 of T10 (blue) connector
- cut spade terminal end from Brown wire of after-run harness and crimp eyelet terminal on wire
- install wire on ground stud near relay panel
- route Brown wire and Red/White wire of after-run harness through grommet of afterrun harness
- install after-run control unit in adapter
- install relay panel
- push after-run harness grommet into hole in rear engine panel
In engine compartment
- remove connector from radiator cooling fan thermoswitch
- pull rubber boot back from connector
- remove Black/Gray wire from connector and cut off spade terminal
- cut terminal off Red/White wire of after-run harness
- mute Red/White wire and push through hole in boot of cooling fan thermoswitch
- crimp Red/White wire with Black/Gray wire and insert into thermoswitch connector
- install boot on connector
- install connector on radiator cooling fan thermoswitch
FIGURE 1:
- mount after-run thermoswitch in bracket (Fig. 1)
FIGURE 2:
- mount temperature switch and bracket with 6.0 mm bolt in available threaded hole on cylinder head between cylinders one and two (Fig. 2) (arrow)
FIGURE 3:
- attach plastic angle (4) to air duct from after-run kit (Fig. 3)
- fasten hose (1) with wire hook (3) to cam cover
FIGURE 4:
Note Air flow from air duct must be directed to fuel injectors.
- attach remaining wire hook to radiator fan mounting bolt on fan shroud (Fig. 4)
- adjust wire hook and insent air duct
- attach battery ground strap
- install battery cover
