Dear Volkswagen Owner:
This letter is sent to you because we would like to correct a problem in the emission control system of certain 1986 and 1987 model Volkswagen vehicles equipped with 16 valve engines. Our records show that your vehicle is one of the vehicles affected.
Problem Oescription During assembly, your vehicle was inadvertently equipped
with an oxygen sensor light which will automatically come on at 30,000 miles. This warning light, however, is not required on your vehicle and should not have been installed. The maintenance replacement of the oxygen sensor at 30,000 miles is also not required.
Remedy Your dealer will disconnect this feature. The work will take
less than one-half hour and will of course be free of charge to you.
Your Action Please contact the Service Department of your authorized
Volkswagen dealer for an appointment to have the OXS light disconnected.
We regret any inconvenience this work may cause you; however, we are confident that you would want your vehicle corrected as soon as possible.
