Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Description and Operation

Air which enters the engine is temperature controlled by an intake air preheating system. This system incorporates a thermostatically controlled flap which regulates the amount of cold and hot air entering the system. When outside air temperature rises above 34°C (93°F) the flap closes off the warm air inlet and allows cold air to pass through the system. At low air temperatures the flap closes off the cold air inlet and the warm air inlet is opened.
