Recall Campaign RW 1988-91 Volkswagen Jetta/Golf Vehicles Equipped with Digifant Engine Management System Install Preheating Tube Support Bracket
Dear Volkswagen Retailer:
This is to inform you of the initiation of a recall campaign involving some 1988 through 1991 model digifant Volkswagen Jetta and Golf vehicles. The vehicles affected are within the vehicle identification number range:
Defect Description
It is possible that some of the affected vehicles were manufactured without a preheating tube support bracket. A preheating tube not properly supported can, in time, come into contact with the right front brake line and chafe against it. Eventually, this could result in damage to the brake line and subsequent brake fluid leakage.
Remedial Action Install a bracket to support the preheating tube.
