SUBJECT: CALIFORNIA EMISSION WARRANTY POLICY

GENERAL:

The following policy clarifies warranty guidelines for Volkswagen vehicles that are labeled as meeting U.S. EPA and California Emission regulations that were not originally purchased in California but are now registered in California.

POLICY:

As stated in the Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual, P. 1-5, VW/US, Inc. will honor legitimate California emission control system warranty claims on Volkswagen vehicles which are:

^ registered in the state of California
^ certified to applicable Federal and California emission requirements
^ carry an emission control tune-up label stating:

THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO U.S. EPA AND CALIFORNIA REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO [ALL] MODEL YEAR NEW MOTOR VEHICLES.
