SUBJECT: G-11 COOLANT Policy Change


Need to Know:

General:

All Volkswagen vehicles are filled at the factory with a water and G-11 coolant solution that includes corrosion inhibitors and is phosphate free.

Our G-11 mixture can improve engine efficiency while helping prevent corrosion damage and the formation of chalk as per Volkswagen Tech News, 88-NO5.


Policy:

Always use new G-11 coolant after replacement of an engine, cylinder head, cylinder head gasket, radiator or heat exchanger. This provides the required freeze protection and protects the alloy parts in the cooling system from corrosion.

Do not reuse old coolant. Reused coolant may not provide sufficient freeze and corrosion protection. The previous policy of reusing coolant no longer applies to the replacement of the above components.
