WORK PROCEDURE
A. Check for Previous Fuel Feed
Hose Replacement
- Open hood
- Locate fuel feed hose
- Check if a new fuel hose, part number 037 133 990B, has previously been installed by
locating the white fuel hose clamp position ring approximately 15 mm from the end of hose at the fuel rail connection
If the ring is present and the hose is also secured with the new spring tension clamp, part number N 102 92201, no further work is necessary
- Close hood
- If hose and clamps are of the old type version, proceed to step B
B. Replace Fuel Feed Hose and Clamps
- Loosen gas cap to release fuel system pressure; retighten gas cap
- Disconnect intake air tube
- Disconnect fuel feed line to injector fuel rail from bracket
- Remove fuel feed hose clamps from both ends of hose and discard
Use specially designed cutting knife, KL2298, and carefully slice both ends of fuel feed hose open to prepare hose for easy removal.
CAUTION:
Be certain not to cut into plastic fuel pipe. Use only the supplied cutting knife.
- Remove fuel feed hose and discard
- Use VWoA-supplied special pliers, KL3385, and push two new hose clamps, part number N 102 92201 on to new fuel feed hose, part number 037 133 990B. Push both clamps toward center of hose
- Install new fuel feed hose
- Use clamp pliers and move both clamps into position.
Clamps must be positioned approximately 3 mm from end of hose (see white clamp position ring on hose)
- Place fuel line back into bracket
- Reinstall intake air tube
- Start engine
- Check for leaks
- Close hood
