Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair
BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING
1. remove lower mounting bolt (hold guide pin with open end wrench while loosening)
BRAKE PADS, REMOVING/INSTALLING
1. Swing brake caliper up and remove brake pads.
2. Always remove some brake fluid from the reservoir before installing new brake pads. When the caliper piston is pushed back, fluid is forced out of the caliper and into the reservoir. After pads are installed, refill the reservoir only the MAX mark.
BRAKE ROTOR REMOVING/INSTALLING
1. Remove grease cap.
2. Remove cotter pin and nut retainer.
3. Remove nut and thrust washer.
4. pull rotor off spindal.
5. Reverse proceedure to install adjusting bearing play (thrust washer must be movable using finger pressure against a screwdriver withoput prying.)
BRAKE PADS, INSTALLING
1. push piston into caliper housing
2. install brake pads and heat shield
3. swing brake caliper down and tighten bolts to 35 Mm (26 ft lb)
Note: The two self-locking bolts in the repair kit must always be installed.
NOTE:After installing new brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times while vehicle is stationary to permit piston and brake pads to adjust to brake disc.
