Electrical Tests

Note:
The following Electrical Tests are designed to accompany VAG 1551 troubleshooting procedures. Perform only those test steps which are referenced in charts. Do not substitute these tests for other VAG 1551 steps. All VAG 1551 test steps must be performed, as required.

Specifications values in the following Electrical Tests are determined by US 1119 multimeter readings. These values are not guaranteed accurate for other testing devices.

Use multimeter US 1119 only, set meter to 20,000 ohm scale.

TEST STEP 1, LEFT DECELERATION SENSOR

1. Disconnect 3-point connector from left deceleration sensor, then measure resistance between terminals 1 and 2, and 2 and 3.
2. Reading between terminals 1 and 2 should be 10,000 ohms and reading between terminals 2 and 3 should be 0 ohms.
3. If not, replace left deceleration sensor.

TEST STEP 2, RIGHT DECELERATION SENSOR

1. Disconnect 3-point connector from right deceleration sensor, then measure resistance between terminals 1 and 2, and 2 and 3.
2. Reading between terminals 1 and 2 should be 10,000 ohms and reading between terminals 2 and 3 should be 0 ohms.
3. If not, replace right deceleration sensor.
