Fuel Delivery Rate Test

1. Ensure voltage supply is satisfactory, then remove fuel pump relay from fuse/relay panel and connect remote control tool No. VAG 1348/3A or equivalent, by inserting adapter cable terminal into terminal 4 of fuse/relay panel and alligator clip to battery positive (+) with switch in Off position.
2. Remove cap from fuel filler neck, then connect pressure tester tool No. VAG 1318 or equivalent, to pre-supply line using a length of scrap hose and adapter tool No. VAG 1318/10 or equivalent.
3. Insert hose tool No. VAG 1318/1 or onto adapter tool No. VAG 1318/11 or equivalents, and hold in a suitable measuring container.
4. Open shut-off valve of tester, then operate remote control while slowly moving tester shut-off lever in closed position until the following pressure is indicated on tester:
a. Two pump system, 43.5 psi.
b. Single pump system, 58 psi.
5. On both systems, when indicated pressure is obtained, stop moving valve lever and shutoff remote control.
6. Drain measuring container, then operate remote control for 30 seconds and shutoff.
7. Fuel quantity should be approximately 650 ML for dual pump system or 750 ML for single pump system.
8. If minimum delivery value is not obtained, check if fuel lines are bent, pinched or plugged, or if fuel filter is clogged and repair or replace as necessary.
9. If fuel filter and fuel lines are satisfactory, replace fuel pump(s).
