Removal

CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with an anti-theft radio, make sure you know the correct radio activation code before disconnecting the battery.

1. Disconnect the battery ground strap.
2. Disconnect electrical connectors from transmission.
3. On vehicles with G-charger, remove connecting tubing to intercooler.
4. Remove gearshift cable from transmission gearshift lever.
5. Remove selector cable with linkage lever from transmission.
6. Remove cable support from transmission.

Clutch Slave Cylinder:




7. Remove clutch slave cylinder and lay to one side. Secure with wire.

CAUTION: Do not disconnect brake line or open clutch hydraulic system. Do not depress the clutch pedal.

8. Remove driveshaft for speedometer on transmission.
9. Remove engine/transmission upper attachment bolts.
10. If necessary, remove intake hose from air-flow sensor.

Engine Mounting Bolts:




11. Remove 3 bolts "A" at mount "B" for engine, right side.

Bolt For Transmission Mount:




12. Remove hex bolt "A" on mount "B", for transmission, left side.

NOTE: For vehicles with ABS, the hex bolt for the left mount is difficult to access. If necessary, remove overflow reservoir for cooling system.

13. Remove fan with cover and mount.

Transmission/Engine Mount:




14. Remove nut "A" for front transmission bracket "B".

Engine Support:




15. Mount lifting device 10-222A in conjunction with bases 10-222A/1.

CAUTION: Bases 10-222A/1 are adapted to the angle of the body. If the previous bases are used, an accident could occur.

16. Slightly tighten engine/transmission support assembly via spindles.
17. Remove the starter and front transmission bracket.

Mounting Bolts:




18. Remove transmission bracket "A" from transmission.
19. Remove balance weight from mount.
20. Remove heat shield for inner right constant velocity joint.
21. Remove driveshafts from flanges and tie up as high as possible.
22. Remove transmission bracket "B" from transmission.
23. Press engine/transmission mount rearward and remove lower mounting bolt "C" for transmission bracket.
24. Push engine/transmission mount as far as possible to the right and lower slightly via left spindle.
25. Remove small cover for gear carrier housing and bolts for cover.
26. Position transmission jack under transmission and remove lower engine/transmission attachment bolt.
27. Pry transmission from dowel sleeves and lower carefully.
