Cooling System Drain & Fill

DRAINING AND FILLING COOLANT:

Lower Radiator Hose:

Hose At Coolant Pump:

- To drain the coolant, set the temperature control lever in the passenger compartment to the high heat position. Loosen the cap on the coolant expansion tank to vent the system. Disconnect the coolant hoses as shown.

Thermo-Time Switch Location:

- To refill the system, disconnect the harness connector from the thermo-time switch as shown, and remove the switch. This will allow air to bleed from the system. Fill the system with a mixture of anti-freeze and water, until coolant mixture starts to flow from the switch opening.

Coolant Expansion Tank:

- Reinstall the thermo-time switch. Torque it to 28 Nm (21 ft lb) and reconnect the harness connector. Continue filling until coolant reaches the Max mark on the coolant reservoir. Recheck the coolant level when the engine is warm. It should be at the Max mark on the coolant reservoir.

NOTE: A coolant mixture of 40% water and 60% G11 anti-freeze will provide protection down to -40°F (-40°C).

Cooling System Capacities: (approx.)
