Resetting Digifant I Control Unit [California (Digifant I)]

Because of its adaptive capability, the Digifant I control unit MUST be returned to its reference settings IF:

1. The coolant temperature sensor (blue connector) has been disconnected while the engine is running.

2. Any of these components have been replaced:
^ Digifant I control unit
^ Air flow sensor
^ Throttle valve potentiometer
^ Throttle body

RESETTING REQUIREMENTS

1. Engine at normal operating temperature, 176°F (80°C); the cooling fan must have come "ON" at least once.
2. All electrical accessories must be turned "OFF".
3. Exhaust system must be free of leaks.
4. Engine NOT running.

RESETTING PROCEDURE

Crankcase Ventilation Hose:

1. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the emission control valve on top of the cylinder head cover (valve cover), then plug the hose.
2. START the engine and let idle.

Coolant Temperature Sensor Location:

3. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor harness connector (blue connector) while engine is idling.
4. Let the engine idle for one (1) minute, then reconnect the coolant temperature sensor harness connector.

CAUTION: Do not reconnect the coolant temperature sensor while the radiator cooling fan is running, doing so risks permanent control unit damage.

5. Stop the engine. Unplug and reattach the crankcase ventilation hose to the emission control valve.
6. Display, then erase all fault codes in the control units fault memory. Reading Diagnostic Trouble Codesfound in the ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS section.

NOTE: You MUST erase the fault memory because disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor with the engine running registers as a fault.
