Federal Vehicles (Digifant II)


NOTE: If the the throttle switch is misadjusted, the engine may surge at idle or cutout during a steady driving speed or light throttle applications.
The throttle valve basic adjustment must be OK. Refer to FUEL SYSTEMS.

Throttle Valve And Switch:





IDLE SWITCH

1. With the ignition "OFF" disconnect the throttle switch harness connector.
2. Connect a suitable volt/ohm meter between the terminals of the throttle switch plug.

Adjustment Of Throttle Switches:





3. Insert a 0.008 in. (0.20 mm) feeler gauge between the stop screw and the throttle stop (a).
4. Close the throttle valve fully.

^ The correct measurement should be 0 ohms (continuity).

5. Open the throttle valve and insert a 0.024 in. (0.60 mm) feeler gauge.
6. Let the throttle valve close.

^ The correct measurement should be infinite ohms (no continuity).

7. If the adjustment is incorrect remove the throttle housing from the intake manifold.
8. Loosen the idle switch and reposition it as necessary to obtained the correct results.
9. Recheck the switch closing point.
10. Reinstall the throttle housing (torque to 15 ft. lb.).
