System Pressure Check

1. Disconnect pressure line from pump, then install adaptors VW 1402 1A and US 1074/4 A and pressure gauge US 1074B or their equivalents. Ensure valve on pressure gauge is in open position.
2. Start engine, and if necessary, top up fluid in reservoir.
3. With engine running at idle and valve open, rotate steering wheel from lock to lock and hold to check pressure in each position. Do not hold against stop longer than 5 seconds or damage may occur.
4. If pressure is not within specifications, replace power steering gear assembly.
