Replacing Sunroof Cable Guide Assembly

SERVICE

Follow the procedure below to replace the sunroof cable guide assemblies:

- Remove sliding glass panel, sunshade, and sunroof drive motor as per instructions in repair manual, repair group 60.




- Remove headliner trim (grab handles, etc.) and drop rear of headliner down on side needing repair.

- Disconnect drain tube from sunroof frame and remove 5mm allen head retaining screw for channel end-cap if so-equipped (arrow).

- Remove channel end-cap from back of frame. 1


ALL VEHICLES EXCEPT 1995 MODELS WITH VENTILATED SUNSHADE:




- Slide rear support post for sunshade out back of channel (support has a short piece of cable attached to it, separate from the drive cable).

1995 MODELS WITH VENTILATED SUNSHADE:

The rear supports are integrated into the sunshade itself.

Note:
The same sunroof frame is used for both sunshade versions, ventilated and nonventilated. This frame is currently supplied without support posts. The rear sunshade posts may have to be transferred or removed when replacing the sunroof frame.




- Depress locking pawl to unlock cable guide assembly and slide entire assembly rearward.




- Carefully slide complete cable guide assembly out rear of frame channel and place on bench.
