Cold Start Injector: Service and Repair
To replace the Cold Start Valve:Component Locations:
1. Make sure ignition switch is turned OFF.
2. Disconnect harness connector from valve.
3. Place a shop towel or clean rag under the Cold Start Valve to catch any fuel that may drip.
4. Slowly loosen fuel line bolt at the Cold Start Valve as some residual fuel pressure may be in the fuel line.
WARNING: Fuel will be expelled. Do not smoke or work near heaters or other fire hazards. Keep a fire extinguisher handy.
5. Remove fuel line from valve.
6. Remove the two (2) socket-head mounting bolts holding the valve to the intake manifold.
7. Attach new Cold Start Valve to the intake manifold using socket-head bolts, always use new base gasket.
8. Torque mounting bolts to:
87 in.lbs. (10 Nm)
9. Replace sealing washers on either side of fuel fitting and connect fuel line to valve.
10. Torque the fuel line bolt to:
87 in.lbs. (10 Nm)
11. Connect harness connector to valve.
12. Remove shop towel from under valve and dry any remaining fuel from the surrounding area.
13. START engine and check for fuel leaks, repair any leaks immediately.
