Compressor Clutch Does Not Engage

A/C Compressor Clutch Does Not Engage






- check A/C system fuses
- must be OK

- check A/C compressor drive belt
- must be properly tensioned and in good condition

- start engine
- switch A/C ON
- compressor clutch does not engage

- briefly connect two blue wires on A/C pressure switch using a jumper wire

CAUTION: DO NOT keep the A/C compressor clutch engaged for more than a moment or damage to the compressor and/or system will result.

If A/C compressor clutch engages, A/C system is low on refrigerant
- check system for leaks, evacuate and recharge

CAUTION: Replace the receiver drier if the A/C system has been open (exposed to the air) for a long period of time. Operating the A/C with a contaminated system will cause A/C component damage.
