Does Not Cool
A/C Does Not Cool
1 - "Max" A/C button
2 - Evaporator
3 - Fresh air/recirculation flap
4 - Fresh air intake
5 - Fresh air/recirculation vacuum servo
6 - Fresh air blower
7 - Instrument panel vents
- check A/C system fuses
- must be OK
- check A/C compressor drive belt
- must be properly tensioned and in good condition
- test operation of fresh air blower 6
- must operate on all four speeds
- open instrument panel vents 7
- adjust fresh air blower to high speed, knob position "4"
- adjust temperature control knob to full cold
- adjust air flow distribution knob to VENT position (instrument panel vents)
- switch Max A/C ON by pressing button 1
- start engine
- fresh air/recirculation vacuum servo 5 must retract (vacuum applied)
- fresh air/recirculation flap 3 must close and block fresh air intake (arrow 4)
If NO
- check vacuum hose layout and connections, Vacuum and Vapor Hose Diagrams
- check fresh air/recirculation flap two-way valve, N63 according to wiring diagram
- switch engine OFF
- adjust fresh air blower 6 to low speed (position "1")
- switch ignition back ON, but do not start car
- switch A/C on and off by pressing and releasing button 1 several times
- A/C compressor clutch must audibly click on and off
If NO
- leave ignition switch ON and A/C ON
- disconnect A/C compressor clutch connector 1
- measure voltage between each connector terminal and ground using digital multimeter US 1119 set to volt scale
- must be approximately battery voltage at one terminal
If no voltage is present,
- check and repair wiring according to wiring diagram
If voltage is present,
- replace A/C compressor clutch
