Passat, with Automatic Transmission m.y. 1991 from VIN ME 024 472

Beginning with VIN ME 024 472 a revised Digimat ECU is installed.

The automatic transmission diagnosis procedure remains unchanged from that used for earlier vehicles (see Technical Bulletin1 Group D3, No. 91-01) but the test program 08, Measuring block values, is revised.

The new readouts displayed on the VAG 1551 tester are shown in chart.

Measuring block values, reading

^ after selecting program 02 for transmission electronics, read display

^ press keys 0 and 8 (this selects program 08 for reading measuring value block)

^ read display

^ press 0 key to acknowledge input

^ read display

Note
The measuring block values can only be read with the tester program card /2 installed.

^ press keys 0 and 1 (this selects group number 01 and displays values corresponding to group 01 in following chart)

^ press 0 key to acknowledge input

^ read display

^ repeat group number entry for remaining groups (02 through 05) and press print key after each new display appears to print a record of diagnosis

^ see specified values

^ if specified values appear on all channels press arrow key; the problem has not been found using this test sequence

^ if specified values are not observed, conduct return to basic setting (see Repair Manual microfiche1 Group D3) and follow instructions in chart for further testing

Note
When test conditions specify "in driving mode", the selector lever handle and cover assembly must be removed and the handle reinstalled. After testing reinstall the cover assembly and secure the handle set screw with AMV 200 000.





Reading Individual Values

^ press Q key to acknowledge input

^ read display

^ press keys to input channel number of desired readout:

00 Test opening for solenoid valves (not currently used)

01 Test opening for solenoid valves (not currently used)

O2 Voltage for transmission speed sender G68

O3 ATF temperature

O4 Test opening for solenoid valve N93

O5 Battery voltage

O6 (not used)

O7 Voltage of throttle potentiometer ^ read display

^ observe values shown on tester and compare with values in chart for each corresponding channel

^ if specified values appear in all channels press the arrow key

^ if specified values are not observed1 follow instructions in chart for further testing (see Repair Manual Group D3 for electrical test steps)

Note
When proceeding to the next channel during this check, it is necessary to select the 09 function again before selecting the channel number.
