Condition

Harsh engagement when moving from Park, Reverse and/or Neutral into Drive "D" gear.

Note

The transmission should not be replaced for this condition alone.

Service

Establish the EPROM level of the Digimat ECU installed in the vehicle.

^ connect VAG 1551 Tester to the vehicle (Check Repair Group D3-20-1 and D3-30-1)

^ switch VAG 1551 printer on

^ after entering address word "02" read either 1551 display window and/or printer tape noting ECU identification.

^ Digimat EPROM level is the four (4) digit number after the word "DIGIMAT" of the identification

CODING 127 WSC131071

0609 is the EPROM level of the ECU

Digimat ECU with EPROM level of 0609 or higher MUST be used to resolve this complaint.








Visual identification of Digimat ECU for EPROM level may be established by noting production build code on silver label. (Note ECU silhouette)

A production build code of 4790 or higher denotes an EPROM level of at least 0609.
