Cruise Control: Service and Repair

CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM





1 - Accelerator pedal

2 - Vacuum actuator (accelerator pedal mounted)
To remove and adjust the actuator; the drivers side air duct or the floor outlet/center console must be removed.
- removing, see Fig. 1
- installing, see Fig. 2

3 - Control unit for cruise control
- behind the center console

4 - Vacuum line Y-piece

5 - Cruise control switch (E 45)

6 - Wiring harness for cruise control

7 - Ventilation valve with clutch pedal switch (F 36)

8 - Ventilation valve with brake pedal switch (F 47)
- removing and installing, see Fig. 3

9 - Vacuum lines

10 - Central electric module

11 - Vacuum pump for cruise control (V 18)
- removing, see Fig. 4

^ loosen adjustment sleeve 2 on actuator 1 and push completely forward
^ adjust cable 3
^ pull adjustment sleeve to rear until 3.5 mm of play is obtained at the pedal plate
^ turn to adjustment sleeve to right to lock into place
^ check accelerator pedal clearance

Removing
^ remove driver's side instrument panel trim
^ remove connector and vacuum line
^ unscrew ventilation valve out of bracket
Installing
^ press ventilation valve up to stop in bracket
^ pedal must be completely pulled back
