Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove spark plug wires (mark position at cap and plug).
2. Check wires visually for cracks, rub marks, oil saturation and corrosion at terminals. Replace if needed.

Testing Spark Plug Wire:

3. Measure overall resistance of each wire. Reading should be between:

4800 - 7200 ohms

If reading is correct, plug wire is good, move to step 7.
4. If reading is incorrect, measure resistance of spark plug connector only. Reading should be between:

4000 - 6000 ohms

If reading is incorrect, replace and retest with new connector.

Connector Testing:

5. Measure resistance of cap connector only. Reading should be between:

600 - 1400 ohms

If reading is incorrect, replace and retest with new connector.
6. If both wire connectors are within specifications, replace and retest with new wire.

NOTE: Ignition wire alone, without connector, should have continuity (approx. 0 ohm).

7. Reinstall all ignition wires.
