NEW WARRANTY POLICIES & PROCEDURES MANUAL


The October 1991 edition of the Volkswagen Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual has been provided to all Volkswagen United States dealers with this circular. All previous editions of this manual should be discarded.

Some of the changes, additions, and clarifications to the new edition are listed below.

^ The 1992 VW Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty includes:

- All light bulbs, as well as brake friction material, are covered for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever occurs first, against defects in material or workmanship.

- Repair or replacement of manual transmission clutch friction material and wiper blade inserts is covered for one year or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first. This same coverage applies to service adjustments not usually associated with the warrantable replacement of parts.

^ Spare Parts:

- As of May 1, 1991, the Limited Lifetime Warranty for Genuine VWoA Replacement Shock Absorbers, Struts, and Strut Inserts includes coverage for Dealership Parts Department Counter sales to retail customers and wholesale accounts. (See p. 1-5.1)

- Warranty terms for Autobahn filters installed on non-VW vehicles.

^ Revised emission component nomenclature. (See pp. 2-2.5 - 2-2.6a and 2-2.10 - 2-2.17a)

^ A customer relations statement regarding repairs not covered by warranty. (See p. 3-1.1)

^ Clarification of procedures regarding vehicle damage after delivery to dealers. (See p. 3-3)

^ A revised Dometic Refrigerator Service Centers listing. (See p. 4-7)

^ V-Crest Terminal addresses for Corporate Warranty and Customer Relations, as well as new telephone and fax numbers.

^ A new policy regarding in-service dates for vehicles with more than 1,000 miles. (See p. 3-4)

Additional copies of the Volkswagen Warranty Policies & Procedures Manual may be ordered from the Lanham Parts Distribution Center under literature number W42-001-480-1, after January 15, 1992. The manual will also be provided in microfiche format in the near future.
