Condition

Poor or intermittent electrical contact between an electrical component and its harness connector terminals, can cause customer complaints and may result in unnecessary replacement of the components.

Service

During the process of diagnosing a customer complaint and before replacing any electrical component always:

- Inspect and clean the electrical contacts between the harness and the component.

- Apply electrical contact enhancer Stabilant 22A (see note at the end of this bulletin) to the connector terminals.

^ Part Number: ZVW186001

Caution!

^ Part numbers are for reference only. Always check with your Parts Department for the latest parts information.

^ DO NOT apply Stabilant 22A to Oxygen Sensor Terminal

- Recheck component function again. If the component functions normally:

- Complete the diagnosis procedure to assure the customer complaint is resolved.

If component still does not function:

- Continue diagnosis procedures until problem is found.

For repairs that do not require replacement of a component:

- Input warranty claims using the electrical harness part identifier. Do not code claims against the component part identifier.

STABILANT 22A REIMBURSEMENT

To compensate for expense of Stabilant 22A, add labor operation 97A1OO0 5 T.U. to your warranty claim.

Note

^ Stabilant 22A enhances conductivity. Apply Stabilant 22A to connector terminals whenever a harness is disconnected as well as when replacing a component or connector.

^ An application of Stabilant 22A is good for one connection only. Stabilant 22A must be reapplied each time the terminals are disconnected.

^ When applied to electrical connections, Stabilant 22A becomes a conductor and provides the reliability of a soldered connection, without actually bonding the contacting surfaces together.

^ When applied to multiple pin connectors, Stabilant 22A enhances conductivity between connector terminals while remaining a nonconductor between adjacent terminals.
