Bumper covers, Installing

When installing or replacing bumper covers, the following steps must be taken to ensure proper bumper cover retention.

- Inspect the plastic retaining clips which are molded into the inner surface of the bumper cover. If the clips are deformed or damaged, replace the bumper cover.

- Slide the bumper cover over the bumper support assuring that the bumper cover ends are interlocked with the fender mounted retaining clips.

- Reach behind the bumper support to ensure that each bumper cover retaining clip is properly aligned with the rectangular openings in the bumper support.

- Carefully tap the bumper cover onto the bumper support. Use a soft mallet.

CAUTION

Confirm that each bumper cover clip is fully interlocked with the bumper by reaching behind the bumper with your hand and feeling each latch.
