Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

Evaporator Removal and Installation

- Remove the heater. Service and Repair





- Disconnect fresh air blower wiring (A) and remove blower (B).

- Pry off retaining clips for evaporator housing halves, using a screwdriver.





- Remove seal (A) at A/C inlet/outlet pipes (B).





- Remove air distribution case (arrow) from housing.





- Remove air intake duct (A).

- Remove remaining housing retaining clips.

- Remove evaporator capillary tube (B).

- Separate housing halves.





- Remove evaporator (arrow).

NOTE: Installation is in reverse order of removal and includes the following additional steps:

- Install new seals at:
^ A/C inlet/outlet lines at evaporator core and heater core.
^ Air intake duct.
^ All distribution case.
^ Other seal locations, as necessary.

- Apply silicone sealer (available locally) to mating surface of:
^ Fresh air blower housing.
^ Air intake duct.
^ Evaporator housing (upper).

- Tighten steering wheel retaining nut to 40 Nm (30 ft lb).

- Evacuate and recharge A/C system.

- Replenish coolant to specifications.
