This Technical Bulletin supercedes Technical Bulletin, Group 64, No. 92-01, January 31, 1992
Condition
1. At high ambient temperatures the plastic transport cam attached to the drive cable of the rear window regulator may break. The window may slide down into the door by itself.
2. The power window regulator may rattle or squeak.
3. Window opens by itself when rear door opened, caused by pinched/abraded wire in area of wiring grommet in B-pillar.
Production
1. A reinforced plastic transport cam has been used in production as of VIN 31 PE 200 000. The new transport cam has 3 reinforcement ribs.
2. An additional spring is installed between the transport cam and the guide rail to prevent rattles or squeaks, as of production date 6/93.
3. 100% check of production for correct routing of window wiring.
Service
1. To repair a broken transport cam install the improved rear power window regulator incorporating the transport cam with 3 ribs in both doors.
2. The installation of the improved window regulator with reinforced transport cam/spring also eliminates the cause of possible rattles or squeaks.
3. Check for slackness in the wire routing through the B-pillar grommet. If no slack is present, cut the be wrap inside the door and provide sufficient slack. Install tie wrap.
Note
The door water barrier must be reinstalled correctly after the repairs
CAUTION
Mark both doors at the B-pillar next to the wiring grommet with a small yellow paint dot. The paint dot will ensure that properly repaired window regulators can be recognized without disassembly of the doors.
Note
The Parts Depots have supplied only the improved parts to retailers as of the week of July 19, 1993.
