Cable Drive
Adjust the parallel alignment of the sunroof only with the cable drive lowered and the drive pinion disengaged. Pry off the interior light, remove the cable drive cover, and remove the countersunk cable drive mounting screws. Refer to Opening/Closing Manually, Service and Repair
CAUTION
Disconnect the battery negative (-) cable before removing the cable drive. First, make sure you know the correct activation code for the anti-theft radio.
Sunroof cable drive pinion must not be engaged when adjusting parallel alignment.
Aligning:
- Move the rear cable guides and cables toward the rear.
- Position pivots in closed position:
• Confirming sunroof operating mechanism in closed position. Pivots (A) within marked area (arrows), locking levers (B) engaged in guide rails.
- Adjust locking levers to engage guide rails.
CAUTION: Always align the guides by moving from the front, rearward to the markings indicating the closed position. Do not align by moving the guides forward from the rear.
Before reinstalling the cable drive, both the sunroof mechanism and the cable drive must be adjusted to the closed positon. Adjust the cable drive by counting revolutions of the drive pinion.
The drive pinion turns clockwise to slide the sunroof open, and reaches a stop when it is fully open. From this clockwise stop, turn the pinion nine full revolutions counterclockwise to reach the closed position.
The drive pinion turns counterclockwise to tilt the sunroof open, and reaches a stop when it is fully open. From this counterclockwise stop, turn the pinion two full revolutions clockwise to reach the closed position.
Cable drive closed position:
- Pinion clockwise to stop + nine turns counterclockwise.
- Pinion counterclockwise to stop + two turns clockwise.
