Cylinder Head, Component Overview





- Checking compression refer to "Compression, Testing". Testing and Inspection

NOTE:
When installing an exchange cylinder head with camshafts installed, lubricate the contact faces between the hydraulic lifters and camshafts after the head is installed.

Remove the plastic protectors for the valves at the moment you install the cylinder head, not earlier

If you replace the cylinder head, also replace all of the coolant.

1 - 5 Nm (44 in. lb)

2 - Ignition wire guide

3 - 25 Nm (18 ft lb)

4 - Right rear support
- Between intake manifold upper section and cylinder head
- With bracket for fuel. line

5 - Bracket
- For fuel line

6 - Flame trap coil

7 - Circlip

8 - Oil filler cap
- Replace seal if damaged

9 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

10 - Bracket
- for electrical wiring

11 - Cylinder head cover
- Removing and installing. Cylinder Head Cover, Removing and Installing

12 - Cylinder head cover gasket
- Replace if damaged.
- Check installation position.

13 - 0-Ring
- Replace.
- Lubricate with oil before installing in camshaft sprocket cover, item 21.

14 - Spacer ring

15 - 0-Ring
- Replace.
- Lubricate with oil before installing

16 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)

17 - Bracket
- for 42-pin connector and pump for coolant after-run.

18 - Ignition coil (N152)

19 - Chain tensioner
- 3O Nm (22 ft lb)
- For double chain
- Bleed before installing.

NOTE: Only turn engine with chain tensioner installed.

20 - Seal
- Replace

21 - Camshaft sprocket cover
- Can be removed and installed with cylinder head installed
- Coat sealing surface with AMV 108 001 02.
- If only camshaft cover was removed, prepare cylinder head gasket for installation see Fig. 2

22 - Cylinder head gasket
- Replace
- If replaced, replace all of the coolant.

23 - Cylinder head
- Check for distortion see Fig. 3
- Installing. Installation
- If replaced, replace all of the coolant.
- Note sequence of loosening and tightening bolts.

24 - Cylinder head bolt
- Replace

25 - Gasket for intake manifold, lower section.
- Replace

26 - Lifting eye

27 - Intake manifold, lower section

28 - Ribbed belt tensioner
- Ribbed belt, removing and installing refer to "Ribbed Belt, Removing and Installing". Service and Repair

29 - Gasket for intake manifold, upper section
- Replace.

30 - Intake manifold, upper section
- First tighten to intake manifold lower section, then tighten both rear supports, items 4 and 32.

31 - Air Temperature Sensor (G72)
- Tighten to 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

32 - Left rear support
- Between intake manifold upper section and cylinder head
- With engine ground connection

33 - Cover
- Above intake manifold upper section

Cylinder Head Gasket, Preparing For Installation

- Remove old sealer from 3 mm holes (arrows)
- Fill 3 mm holes in cylinder head gasket with sealer AMV 188 OO1 02.

NOTE: With cylinder head installed, the holes are only half visible.
