Read Measuring Value Blocks (Function 08)

Function 08: Measuring value block, reading

- connect Scan Tool VAG 1551 using adaptor cable VAG 1551/1 as follows:
- First connect black adaptor cable connector (voltage supply) to black Data Link Connector (DLC).
- display will appear as shown.




* These displays appear alternately

Note: Do not connect the white adaptor cable connector if there is no display. Instead, check the voltage supply for scan tool, Refer to VAG 1551 Voltage Supply, Checking.

- connect white adaptor cable connector to the white/brown Data Link Connector (DLC) 2.
- The blue connector is not used


- switch ON ignition
- press button 1 to select operating mode "Rapid data transfer"
- display will appear as shown

[ Enter address word XX ]

- press 0 and 8 buttons to select function 08 "Measuring value block reading".
- press Q button to enter input.
- display will appear as shown

[ Enter display group no. XX ]

- enter desired display group number using the listings shown below.
- press Q button to enter input.

Example:
- press buttons 0 and 1 to select display group 01
- display will appear as shown

- press Q button to enter input
- channels 1 through 4 will appear as shown in display

Note:
- The VAG 1551 display for groups 01 and 06 is shown without the 0 (zero) in the group number
- The measured values are indicated as physical quantities (actual values).
- Press the C button before selecting any other display groups.
- Keying in the individual values is described in the component repair procedures.

- press -> button.
- press 0 and 6 buttons to select function 06 "End output".
- display will appear as shown

- press Q button to enter input.



INFORMATION IN DISPLAYED CHANNELS BY DISPLAY GROUP.

Display group 00:
- Only required for individual checks.

Display group 01:

1 = Engine speed (RPM)
2 = Engine coolant temperature (ECT).
3 = Oxygen Sensor (O2S) factor.
4 = Ignition angle.

Display group 02:

1 = Engine speed.
2 = Injection time.
3 = System VOLTAGE.
4 = Exhaust gas recirculation temperature (if available).

Display group 03:

1 = Engine speed.
2 = Engine load.
3 = Throttle valve angle.
4 = Intake Air Temperature (at manifold).

Display group 04:

1 = Engine speed.
2 = Engine load.
3 = Vehicle speed.
4 = Switch positions*.
10000 Acceleration enrichment.
01000 Wide open throttle.
00100 Partially open throttle.
00010 Idle position.
00001 Deceleration fuel shutoff.
00000 Switch positions NOT OK (activate DTC Memory again if this numeric code appears.

Display group 05:

1 = Engine speed.
2 = IAC valve.
3 = IAC valve (duty cycle).
4 = Switch positions:
10-00 A/C compressor ON.
01-00 NC ON.
00-10 Transmission engagement (for automatic transmission ONLY).
00-01 Drive step (for automatic transmission ONLY).

Display group 06:

1 = O2S factor.
2 = O2S adaptive learning (closed throttle).
3 = O2S adaptive learning (partially open throttle).
4 = O2S adaptive learning (full throttle).

* Switch positions can also be added, for example: acceleration from partial load = 10100.

NOTE: This display is only possible from Scan Tools equipped with program card 3 (or later).
