Passat - Leather Interior Only Precaution

Check door panel for loose panel leather covering material at the upper window rail area (arrows) and the door handle housing.

If the material has loosened and has pulled beyond the rail edge or housing edge, the panel needs to be replaced.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
A detected problem requires an inspection by your service manager or service advisor who must approve the replacement of the panel.

An inspection of the front door panels should also be performed.

Reinstall panel by:

Checking foam frame for door handle housing in back of door panel; renew if damaged.

Pulling electrical switch harness through door panel switch opening.

Carefully reinstalling door panel starting with window rail

Ensuring proper panel alignment with door clips - installing two upper fastening screws.

Rechecking panel alignment.

Installing remaining fastening screws and tightening.

Reinstalling electrical switch.

Reinstalling door handle.

Reinstalling rear triangle trim, where applicable.

Reinstalling door handle/housing, using wooden tool from special kit.

Ensuring that door parts are wiped clean.

Repeat procedure for left side window regulator replacement.

After completion, have service manager/ service advisor check installation and function and sign Quality Check Statement. Attach to repair order.
