Cruise Control - Troubleshooting Using VAG1466

Cruise Control (Manual Transmission), Troubleshooting, using Tester VAG 1466

MODEL(s):
Passat From 1990 m.y.

The following troubleshooting information is formatted to the new VW Worldwide style.

Tester VAG 1466 is not yet available but will be introduced in September, 1993.

This information is supplied early to ensure that troubleshooting procedures are available when the tester is introduced.

File this information in your Technical Bulletin binder.

CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM (MANUAL TRANSMISSION), TROUBLESHOOTING USING TESTER VAG 1466

Test conditions:
- Vacuum system for cruise control OK
- Fuse 514 OK

Troubleshooting preparations:

- Remove connector (T2) and connector (T8) from Cruise Control, Control Module (J213) located behind center console.

- Connect test adaptor VAG 1466J2 to Cruise Control, Control Module 8-pin connector T8)

- Connect tester VAG 1466 to adaptor

- Connect 2-pin control module connector, terminal T2/1 (0.5 blue/black wire) to open terminal on test adaptor VAG 146612

Note
Beginning with 1992 m.y., terminal 2 of Cruise Control Control Module connector T2 is occupied. On these cars, connect T2/2 to ground when Troubleshooting.

- Switch ignition on

Test procedure information:







- Perform test steps in numerical sequence according to table.

- If specified value/test result is obtained, continue troubleshooting with next test step (test result OK).







- If specified value/test result is not obtained, locate and eliminate malfunction using table.

- Use valid wiring diagram for checking wiring.

- Remove all test wires from sockets of VAG 1466 after each step.

IF MALFUNCTION HAS NOT BEEN ELIMINATED AFTER PERFORMING TEST STEPS 1 THROUGH 9, REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL, CONTROL MODULE (J213)

After repairing malfunction, check cruise control system for proper operation.
