Poly-Ribbed Belt
NOTE: On engines with a tensioning pulley the tensioning of the ribbed drive belt is not required, as the spring loaded tensioning system ensures the correct belt tension.1. Loosen alternator securing bolts -1- and -2- at least one turn.
2. Press alternator down to stop with tensioning lever tool No. 3297, or equivalent, at least 3 times to ensure optimal ease of movement.
3. With alternator still loosened allow engine to run at idling speed for at least ten seconds.
NOTE: When securing the alternator observe the following tightening sequence. Do not use the alternator as a support or touch ribbed drive belts.
4. Tighten securing bolt -2- and then securing bolt -1- to 25 Nm (1 8 ft. lbs.) .
