V-Belt
CHECK AND ADJUST V-BELT TENSIONCheck V-belt tension by applying strong thumb pressure to the area of the belt between the two pulleys that are furthest apart.
Deflection for used V-belt: approx. 5 mm (0.197 inch).
Adjusting
NOTE:
- When loosening securing bolts -1- and -2- and clamping bolt -3-, loosen tensioning bar securing nut -4- (if equipped) at least one turn.
- The torque wrench tool No. VAG 1410, or equivalent, with 22 mm crowfoot insert can be used for V-belt adjustment.
1. Tension used V-belts by turning the tensioning nut with a torque wrench to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.), then tighten tensioning nut clamping bolt -3- to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
2. Tighten securing bolt -1- to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
3. Tighten securing bolt -2- and tensioning bar securing nut (if equipped) to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
