Less Tensioner

SPECIAL TOOLS
^ Lever tool No. 3297, or equivalent.

REMOVAL


Models Less Automatic Tensioner:





1. Loosen alternator mounting bolts -1- and -2- at least one turn
2. Press down on alternator using lever tool No. 3297, or equivalent, and remove the ribbed drive belts from the alternator pulley.
3. Remove power steering pump V-belt.
4. Remove ribbed drive belt.

INSTALLATION
1. Place ribbed drive belt on crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and water pump pulley.
2, Install power steering pump V-belt.
3. Push alternator down onto stop at least 3 times with lever to ensure that it moves freely.





4. Push down on alternator using lever and install the ribbed drive belt

NOTE: If the engine has not yet been installed, continue with this sequence AFTER the engine has been installed.

5. Idle engine for at least 10 seconds with alternator loose

NOTE: When tightening the alternator bolts, observe tightening sequence below, do not use alternator for support and do not touch the ribbed drive belt.





6. Tighten mounting bolt -2- to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Tighten mounting bolt -1- to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
