Cylinder Head, Installing

Special Tools Needed:
Torque wrench 40 to 200 Nm (30 to 150 ft lb)
Camshaft fixture 3268

- Move piston 1 to TDC.





- Locate camshafts with fixture 3268

- Install cylinder head gasket. Note position of locating dowels in cylinder block (hole 12 and 20 in next illustration).

- Install cylinder head.

- Insert cylinder head bolts and hand-tighten.

- Tighten cylinder head in 4 stages:





Tighten first with torque wrench:
1 st stage: 4O Nm (3O ft lb)
2nd stage: 60 Nm (44 ft lb)

Turn further with normal wrench:
3rd stage: 1/4 turn (9O°)
4th stage: 1/4 turn (9O°)

NOTE:
Loosening cylinder head: reverse sequence.
Retorquing of cylinder head after repairs is not necessary.
