1 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

2 - Oil Pump Drive Cover

3 - 0-Ring

- Replace.
- Lubricate with oil before installing.

4 - Oil Pump Drive

5 - Cylinder Block

- Sealing flange and flywheel/drive plate, see removing and installing.
- Crankshaft, see removing and installing.
- Piston and connecting rod, disassembling and assembling refer to "Pistons and Connecting Rods, Removing and Installing". Service and Repair

6 - Intermediate Shaft

7 - Thrust Washer


8 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
- Insert with Locking fluid D6

9 - Knock Sensor 2 (G66)
- Checking: Check DTC.

10 - 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
- Tightening torque affects functioning of knock sensor

11 - 0-Ring
- Replace.

12 - Spacer

13 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28)

- Checking: Check DTC.
- When installing, coat contact surface of sensor with AMV 174 004 01.

14 - Gasket
- Replace if damaged.
- Before installing gasket, coat oil pan flange and cylinder block flange with D2.

15 - Coolant Line
- To thermostat housing.
- Removing and installing.

16 - 0-Ring
- Replace.

17 - Oil Pump
- Disassembling and assembling refer to "Oil Pump, Disassembling and Assembling". Service and Repair
- Coat flanges of pressure pipe on cylinder block and oil pump housing with AMV 188 001 02.

18 - 25 Nm (18 ft lb)

19 - 1O Nm (7 ft lb)

- Insert with locking fluid D6

20 - Seal
- Replace.

21 - Oil Drain Plug, 30 Nm (22 ft lb)

22 - Oil Pan

- Clean sealing surface before installing.

23 - 15 Nm (11 ft lb)

24 - Oil Cooler Cover, 25 Nm (18 ft lb)

25 - Oil Cooler

- Coat contact area outside of, seal with AMV 188 001 02.
- Check that there is enough clearance for components next to it.
- See note in "Engine Repair and Work Grouping". Engine Repair and Work Grouping

26 - Oil Filter Housing
- Disassembling and assembling refer to "Oil Filter Housing, Disassembling and Assembling". Service and Repair

27 - Seal
- Replace. Note installation position.
- Lubricate with oil before installing.

28 - Vibration Damper
- Ribbed belt removing and installing refer to "Ribbed Belt, Removing and Installing". Service and Repair

29 - 120 Nm (88 ft lb) + 1/4 turn (90°) further
- Replace.
- Counter-hold with 3273 to loosen and tighten.

30 - Coolant Pump
- Check shaft for easy movement.

31 - 20 Nm (15 ft lb)

32 - Pulley

- For coolant pump

33 - 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- Use VAG 1590 to loosen and to tighten.

34 - Oil Dipstick
- Oil level must not be above max. mark.

35 - Oil Check Valve, 5 Nm (44 in lb)
- Note installation position
- Clean if necessary
