Defroster

Windshield Cannot Be Kept Defogged
(No cooling or recirculated air is not heated)







Test condition:
- Outside air temperature above +7°C (44°F)
- A/C is cooling with full power refer to A/C System Performance Check Testing and Inspection
- Fresh air fan -11- works in all four stages.

Test procedure:
- Set control knob as shown in illustration.
- Press A/C switch -2- (E35).
- Button for fresh air and recirculating air was not pressed.
- Check components and functions, according to the following:

3 - Temperature flap
- Sub-cooled air flows through heat exchanger -4-. Temperature flap -3- must be heard to fall into position when the control knob (center) is turned back and forth from its end position "cold".
- Adjust temperature flap cable.

4 - Heat exchanger
Engine coolant pipes are warm.
- Check thermostat

5 - Windshield vent
- Slightly temperate air
- Adjust cable for center flap and footwell/defroster flap.

8 - Fresh air and recirculating air flap
- Fresh air intake -9- open
- Vacuum unit -10- released
- Check vacuum hoses as per vacuum hose connection diagram Vacuum and Vapor Hose Diagrams
- Check Fresh Air/Recirculating Flap Two-Way Valve (N63) using wiring diagram.
- Check Fresh Air /Recirculating Flap Switch -2- (E159) using wiring diagram.
