Condition

Expansion valve produces hissing or groaning noise under elevated system pressure.

Note:
This is a fluid noise resulting from the higher system pressure of the R-134a A/C system compared to the lower system pressure of the R-12 A/C system.

Improved expansion valve installed as of m.y.1994 production with vendor production date code:1193128 TGK (11 signifies week, 93 signifies year).

Service

If expansion valve produces a hissing or groaning noise:

- Replace expansion valve with improved valve.

Part No.: 1H0 820 679 A (production date code 1193128 TGK or later).

Note:
The Parts Department will supply only the improved expansion valve.
