5TH Gear Synchronizer, Changes

As of trans. manufacture date Oct. 31 10 1

New:
additional keys (item -4-)

Before:
keys only at synchro ring

The parts were changed or are new.





5th Gear synchronizer sleeve and hub

1 - Spring
^ replaces previous spring on synchro ring

2 - Synchronizer sleeve
^ with three recesses (arrows -A-) for additional keys (item 4)

3 - Synchronizer hub
^ three additional smaller recesses for the additional keys (item 4)
^ a = 8.2 mm

4 - Keys

- install with narrow ends (arrow -B-) facing pointed teeth of synchronizer sleeve (item -2-)





Synchro ring

^ a (new) = 8.6 mm
(old) = 9.0 mm

^ grooves for previously used spring are eliminated

Note
New and previously used synchro rings are not interchangeable

Synchronizer sleeve and hub, assembling





- slide sleeve over hub. Pointed teeth -A- of sleeve and collar of hub -B- point in one direction. Recesses for keys in sleeve and hub must align.

- insert keys, for installation position.

- install springs under lugs -C-. Offset springs 120~.

^ spring must be positioned with angled ends (arrows) in front of keys.
