Lubrication System, Assembly





WARNING: DO NOT re-use any fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use. Many fasteners are designed to be used only once and become unreliable and may fail when used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts, bolts, washers, self-locking nuts or bolts, circlips, cotter pins. For replacements always use new parts.

CAUTION:
- Always replace gaskets and seals.
- Part numbers are for reference only. Always check with your Parts Department for latest information.
- If metal shavings are found in the engine oil as a result of engine damage, clean oil passages thoroughly, then replace all oil spray jets, oil pressure relief valve, oil cooler and oil filter.

NOTE: All components shown, with exception of oil spray jets and the oil pressure relief valve, can be replaced with engine installed.


NOTE: Engine oil capacity
- with oil filter 6.0L (6.3 qts.)
- without oil filter 5.0L (5.3 qts.)

2 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
3 - Oil pump drive cover
installing, cover seal with engine oil
4 - 0-ring

- installing, coat 0-ring with engine oil

- seal flange area cylinder block/seal flange front and rear, coat both sides with AMV 188 001 02

16 - Oil cooler
- coat seal surface with AMV 188 001 02
- do not allow sealant to get onto oil cooler gasket
- ensure adequate side clearance

18 - Oil filter
note change intervals
19 - Oil filter housing, lower - 30 Nm (22 ft lb)
drain before removing
20 - Oil fitter housing, upper - with by-pass valve
21 - Oil temperature sender
22 - Oil pressure switches - 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- 1.4, bar (20 psi) switch yellow wire
- 0.3 bar (4.4 psi), blue/black wire
- checking, Testing and Inspection
23 - 0-ring
