File this Technical Bulletin In Repair Manual No.: W42 011 294 117
CONDITION
Poor or intermittent electrical contact between an electrical component and its harness connector terminals can cause customer complaints and may result in unnecessary replacement of components.
SERVICE
During the process of diagnosing a customer complaint and before replacing any electrical component, always:
- Inspect and clean electrical contacts between harness and component.
- Apply electrical contact enhancer Stabilant 22A to connector terminals (See Note).
^ Part No. ZVW 186 001
CAUTION
^ Part numbers are for reference only. Always check with your Parts Dept. for the latest information.
^ DO NOT apply Stabilant 22A to Oxygen Sensor terminals.
- Recheck component.
If component functions normally:
- Complete the diagnosis procedure to assure customer complaint is resolved.
If component still does not function:
- Continue diagnosis procedures until problem is found.
For repairs that do not require replacement of a component:
- Input warranty claims using the electrical harness part identifier. Do not code claims against the component part identifier.
NOTE
^ Stabilant 22A enhances conductivity. Apply Stabilant 22A to connector terminals whenever a harness is disconnected, as well as when replacing a component or connector. An application of Stabilant 22A is good for one connection only. Stabilant 22A must be reapplied each time the terminals are disconnected.
^ When applied to electrical connections, Stabilant 22A becomes a conductor and provides the reliability of a soldered connection without actually bonding the contacting surfaces together.
^ When applied to multiple-pin connectors, Stabilant 22A will enhance conductivity between connectors terminals while remaining non-conductive between adjacent terminals.
